TGT 071: Dice Games

This week we start off talking about a couple upcoming conventions we’ll be at. Chris backs the 2nd least expensive game yet on Kickstarter (Postcard Dungeon) and we then read some feedback from past episodes (including a gummy candy commercial!).

Then we start talking about dice games (thanks Christy for the outline) and realize quickly that this topic is too big for just one episode. We do what we can in the time we have and then plan several more episodes in the near future on more specific topics.

TGT 070: Semi Co-Op Games

This week we start out by announcing the winner to our current giveaway, talk a bit about our next giveaway, Chris backs a Tank game on Kickstarter, we get some nice feedback, a quick question, and then on to the topic…

Semi Co-Op games! We try and define them, grasp for some examples, and even talk a bit theoretically about what works and doesn’t work within this niche category.

Monday Terrain Corner

So, I’m back in the office after one of the greatest Thanksgiving breaks I’ve ever had. Thursday I was at my friend’s place. We gamed. We had turkey. We watched football. It was amazing. Friday, I had friends over at my place for Thanksgiving 2: Thank Harder. We games more. We had more turkey. We… didn’t watch football, but we did play Mario Kart… which is nothing like football, but still… And then Saturday I went to a game shop in Alabama to play Guild Ball and put together a Gundam model, then went out for authentic German food. Sunday I rested (I really needed it by then).
It. Was. Amazing.

And today, I’m back in the office, playing hella-catch-up because I basically didn’t touch anything work-related for around 96 hours. 😛

Wyrd Previews Propagandist From Above the Law

It could be said that all advertising is some form of propaganda. And, really, all the stories on here are a form of advertising. So, it could be argued, that I’m in the propaganda business. Though I’m not really sure I like the ring of that. But waddyagonnado? You’re gonna read about the Propagandist pursuit coming from the Above the Law expansion for Through the Breach.

From the post:

The Propagandist is a new Social Pursuit found in Above the Law. The Propagandist’s core mechanic is The Voice of the People: each time the character succeeds on a Social Skill duel, they gain stackable a Condition that increases the final duel total of their Art, Printing, and Convince duels for the rest of the session. This encourages a Propagandist to stick their nose into other peoples’ business right from the very start of an adventure, as it just empowers their ability to spread rumors and propaganda later in the session.

Trade And War – Ancient Mediterranean Board Game Up On Kickstarter

Over the centuries, many different groups have inhabited the lands surrounding the Mediterranean, and they have fought with each other for every bit of coastline they can get. New Warmachine and Hordes Releases Available From Privateer Press

The second wave of November releases is now available from Privateer Press. They’ve got still some more Cygnar releases. The Trolls are getting some more new figures. And to keep everyone warm, Menoth’s got a colossal release. So whether you’re more for the Warmachine or the Hordes side of things, there’s possibly something new for you.

o Boost the scale of warfare with the full rules for Unbound, now updated to the new edition rules. Unbound lets you play giant battles with multiple ’casters utilizing streamlined rules.
o Fight for the hardiest kith and kin with the Northkin theme force, detailing the background, organization, and lives of these frosty Trollbloods.
o Plus, catch up on the history of the Iron Kingdoms with the next installment of “The Fire & The Forge,” explore the contested city of Fellig in “Hostile Territory,” and get some insight on the stats of upcoming releases in “After Action Report.

Blockhouses are often built to support Cygnaran trenchworks, providing girded fire bays and supporting fire in the event of an enemy overrun of the front. Able to withstand direct artillery fire from all but the heaviest enemy guns, these blockhouses return fire with salvos from their impressive cannons while acting as mustering points to reinforce embattled trencher platoons.

As turn the wrenches of the mechaniks, so turns the war. Trencher combat engineers are even tougher and more combat-ready than their field mechanik counterparts in the regular Cygnaran Army. Every man and woman among them must be as adept with a firearm as they are at maintaining and repairing the warjacks and weapons of the platoon.

Dedicated raiding bands are vital for smaller kriels that rely on their spoils to survive. These skirmishers use ambushes and hit-and-run tactics. Raiders carry firebombs used to set buildings ablaze to distract sentries and lure them from storehouses, bombs equally effective against massed infantry. It is also their job to plunder downed foes after a skirmish, a task veteran warriors consider beneath them.

Few warchiefs command so black a reputation as the acrimonious Valka Curseborn. Noted for a foul temper, he has become bitter and ruthless with the passing of the years. At each battle’s end, he looks around himself with bloodied axes, taking in the carnage he has unleashed, disgruntled that he still draws breath. He seeks a hero’s death but is too stubborn to die easily. The foe worthy to claim his life has yet to stand before him.

The consecrated colossals of the Protectorate of Menoth are towering masterpieces of faith and war. The Revelator strips away the obscuring magic of profane casters and scorches the earth to leave nothing but ashes behind.

OR?! Party Card Game Up On Kickstarter

In life, there are choices. Left or right? Fries or salad? Sandals or boots? Well, OR?!, a new party card game up on Kickstarter, asks you all sorts of questions like this, forcing you to decide between two horrible options. It’s a new take on Would You Rather, a game that most of us have played many times before.

From the campaign:

We all have deep and unsolved questions burning inside of us. But we struggle to find a time and place to express these burning questions. As much as we want to ask the checkout lady if she would rather “have no skin or have no bones?”, we don’t, because we’re grown adults and should know better. It would also be a strange thing to ask while she scans in my laxatives and bottle of vodka.

But we at ‘Yeah Nah Man’ have created a game that solves this everyday issue. We dove deep into what questions our strange minds were holding and poured that into the great party card game this is”OR?!’.

OR?! Is a ‘Would you rather’ style party game for modern people. It’s easy to play and will expose your and your friends true moral compases. You will really see how far rock bottom is in the people you know and love.

With 9 game types to choose from, each tailored for a different gaming experience, ‘OR?!’ will be a party favorite time and time again.

The Kickstarter campaign is up and running now. It’s set to go for another 18 days.
